upstate new york high country

ok i know...it's new york...but i thought i might surprise a couple of you with some scenery. these are cascade and porter mountains in the adirondacks. my dad just turned 65 2 weeks ago and he is on a mission to hike all 46 peaks in the adirondacks that are 4000' plus. he has done all of the peaks in the catskills that are 3000" plus. this is high elevation for back east, don't laugh
these are 2 of the easier ones in the adirondacks...1940' in 2.4 miles. Views are incredible, especially from Cascade with its bare summit. Awesome view of the Keene Valley to the north and the Great Range to the southwest.
enjoy.

Really suprising there is that kind of scenery in New York, most people just think of the city when we hear New York.
Nice pics thanks for posting them.

Great pics. A lot of out hunters are coming from NY and PA, and they are always going on about the 'Rondikes. Looks kinda like the Smokies.

My step-mom has a lot of family in Syracuse. I went there some years ago. Up state NY is pretty cool. Her brother's father in law is a huge turkey hunter. He has invited my dad and I to come out and go turkey hunting with him. Id like to take him up on the offer someday just to get to see some more of the country.

I'd take that view over Time Square anyday...
Never did like NYC all that much when I was there.
